This years National Hereford Show was held at the Randox Antrim show and was judged by the current president of the Society Robert Thomas from the Risbury Herd from Leominster. With one of the best turnouts in recent years of close to 70 cattle he had the difficult job of selecting his prize winners on the day.

Supreme Champion went to Courtney Halliday’s yearling heifer, Corraback Joan 15th. Bred by Mervyn Richmond who is well known for prize winning stock this heifer didn’t disappoint on the day. Winning the strongest class of yearling heifers with an entry of 12 she went on to claim the championship of the day.

Reserve Supreme went to a home bred bull of Alwyn Armour. Woodvale 1 Limited Edition who packs plenty of class and is relatively new to the circuit but already has a great showing career ahead of him.

Mark Moore took home reserve Female Champion with his heifer Annaghbeg Pansy with reserve male going to Ciaran Kerr’s Mullaghdoopoll 1 Elite.

Other wins on the day included the cow class which was won by John Gill’s Lusky 1 Honour, a cow that has been winning throughout the year. Senior Heifer class was won by David Smyth’s Mara Blossom 50th with the intermediate going to Richmount 1 Nivana’s owned and bred by James Graham. The last of the two heifer classes where won by Mark Moore with Annaghbeg Delilah and the Leader Families Hockleypoll 1 Evi.

In the bull section Alwyn Armour’s Woodvale 1 Limited Edition won the senior Bull class. David Smyth picked up another win with Freetown Mentor who he recently purchased from the well know herd in England in the 2015 category class. Ivan Haire’s Dorepoll 1 579 Nashville picked up the red ribbon in the yearling Bulls. Ciaran Kerr’s Kinnego 1 Pharoah who is no stranger to winning won the September 2016 class with the bull calf class going to William Burleigh’s smart calf Benaughlin Larry.
