Richmount Poll Herefords

Richmount Poll Herefords is one of the most highly decorated herds in Northern Ireland in the last decade.  

We had a successful beginning with our first stock bull, Graceland 1 Colin, taking NI Bull of the Year in 2009.  In 2013 Richmount 1 Hermes took NI Bull of the Year and went to the Mallowburn herd of Dave & Kate Dickinson, taking Stockbull of the Year in the North of England for 4 consecutive years.  Our herd continued to flourish, taking NI Female of the Year titles and then back-to-back NI Bull of the Year titles in 2013 and 2014 with homebred animals.  Further NI Bull of the Year titles followed in 2018 and 2019 with Richmount 1 Peppermint (who went to the Baybridge herd of Les Gould where he took the 2020 Stockbull of the Year title in the South West of England) and Richmount 1 Rockafella (who went to a large commercial herd in Scotland). 

The Richmount Herd has taken numerous Small Herd titles in Northern Ireland along with National Calf Show championships and we are delighted to see progeny that have gone on to breed champions in both male and female lines.   

At the Royal Ulster Agricultural Show in Balmoral in May of 2022 Richmount 1 Treadstone took Male Champion and Reserve Overall Champion under the watchful eye of world-renowned judge Mr. PJ Budler.  Budler endorsed this young bull as “the kind that the British Isles needs more of”. 

We have supplied breeding stock to assist with establishing several new pedigree herds in Northern Ireland using Richmount genetics and the success of our own herd is due, in no small part, to consistent dedication and well balanced, honest cattle.
